Planned Giving

Jim Hubbard, Psi ‘66

“KDR IS FOR LIFE” seems a trite phrase to some, but for me Kappa Delta Rho has always been a building block and a foundation piece for how I built my life. My time as a KDR on campus at Lycoming College (Psi Chapter) in Williamsport, PA, was truly important to me during some of my most formative years. The friendships I gained and leadership experience I acquired as a Chapter officer in the early 1960s proved to be valuable throughout my professional career that spanned forty (40) years with Brunswick Corporation.

It became clear to me, after seeing how Brothers who came before me gave through their estate plans to make today’s programs possible, that I too could make a difference. Talking it over with my wife of 50 years, Sharon, we agreed that we needed to include KDR in our estate planning and have done so. Our chosen method was to make the KDR Foundation a percentage (%) beneficiary in one of my life insurance policies, easy peezy with a beneficiary change document. Sharon agrees that my lifelong friendships that she also enjoys, and the influence KDR has had on my life, that KDR deserves our support after we are gone and wholeheartedly endorsed adding the KDR Foundation as a beneficiary.

Sharon and I have gone to so many Homecomings and KDR events over the years that most Brothers think she graduated from Lycoming with us, which she didn’t. We recognize that the world is different today than back in the 1960s, but the young men of today, and those of tomorrow, will still benefit from being a part of a quality Greek experience. That will not be possible without adequate funding. We have chosen to do our part to help “being a KDR” continue to mean something and be a valuable part of each Brother’s personal development.
